There are a few  things that Sun print and online readers can do to help us do our jobs a bit better.

First: When you post comments on the website, please use your first name. That way, we can share your comments with the readers of our print edition.


Second: When you speak at public meetings of city agencies, spell out your name or email the proper spelling of your name to and add “Re city meeting of” followed by the date in the subject line. We don’t print anonymous sources and speaking for myself I feel like a blithering idiot when I misspell a source’s name.

I hate change. I’ve seldom benefited from change. But I’ve never been able to stop it. Today cannot be exactly like tomorrow. The clothes that fit me when I was a boy wouldn’t fit me now——and a good thing, too, because the fashions of the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s were horrid. Change is life. Octavia E. Butler’s science fiction novel “The Parable of the Sower” went so far as to say that “God is change.”  It simply can’t be escaped. So I go about my business, which happens to be chronicling the small and large changes here in Seal Beach, California. Monday, there will be a City Council meeting. Will anything change? Well, we’ll have to wait and see, won’t we?
